Night Biking: Bgy Hukay and Cardiac Hills Silang

Night biking offers a different perspective on an otherwise familiar road or trail. Darkness envelops the view you normally see on broad daylight, your vision is restricted to a few meters in front of you. With these hazards known, plus if you are not afraid of the dark nor biking alone, night mountain biking is a recommended activity with the following advantages:
1. No risk of exposure to dangerous UV rays of the sun.
2. Less vehicles plying the route.
3. Clean and clear air.

Things to prepare or check for a quick ride at night:
1. Night lights, these include rear lights. Buy one or make one if you are a DIYer.
2. Proper clothing. If you plan to go on night biking, consider the weather, if cool (less than 24 deg C) wear an extra layer of sweat-absorbing shirt.
3. Check the weather - postpone if there is a strong chance of rain. I do not recommend biking at night while raining
4. Water - proper hydration should be observed, even on cool weather.
5. Know Yourself - can you take riding alone in the dark?
6. Plan your route ahead - safety first, always know before hand your planned route. You need to know the location of the nearest barangay outpost.
7. GPS enabled device - this is also a must. If you got the money, you could buy a dedicated GPS device. Or if you have an android phone, consider downloading OSMAND. It is an application that uses the GPS of your smartphone. Best of all, it's free.
