April 27, 2012 ShotGun Wall

San Mateo - Mountain bike Capital of the Philippines
Dateline Friday April 27, 2012, San Mateo Rizal. I had do an emergency errand to my hometown. The day was very hot, biking all the way to my destination was out of the quetion. I packed my bike inside the car and off I went to my hometown. After doing my errand, I went off to the foothills and climbed Shotgun. This is part of C6 Road that connects San Mateo to Infanta, Quezon. Shotgun is so named by bikers because that road is patrolled by shotgun toting guards, barring access to the San Mateo Sanitary Landfill. Shotgun is around 400 meters high above sea level and consists of 4.42kms of gruelling uphill, sometimes as steep as 75% grade at some points of the climb. I managed to climb without dismount for 48 minutes. The exhaustion paid off as I was treated to a different view of nature.
Entrance to Roxas trails at the end of Shot Gun Avenue
At 5:17 in the afternoon, the sun is still high in the horizon when this shot was taken
Shadows grow so long before my eyes
Peaceful and calm
Light filters through the high altitude crystal clouds, forming halo-like effect on the sunlight
5:39pm at Shotgun avenue, I have to stop and take this view
the sun preparing to retire
The view I enjoyed cannot be bought by money
Thank you Dear God for giving me the opportunity to see the beauty of Your creation
Suddenly the day turns into night
