The True Cost of an iPhone (or any electronic gadget)

Ever wondered how much does it cost to produce an iPhone? That small gadget everyone goes gaga over has a very big impact in the environment and human resource?

Consider this:
  • Coltan contains a heat-resistant substance that can hold a high electrical charge, and is a staple component of every iPhone.
  • Up to 80% of the world's coltan reserves are located in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Over 18 months of bloody warfare, the Rwandan army made over $250 million stealing coltan from the DR Congo.
And that is just one of iPhone's (or any electronic gadget for the matter)

Think before you replace your perfectly working smartphone.
