Fruits in Season

You know it's Type I season (summer) in the Philippines when you see a lot of cheap mangoes being sold in the market. A kilogram costs anywhere from 50 to 80 pesos depending on the size and quality. Through the wonders of logistics, we enjoy mangoes grown in Pangasinan and in Guimaras right in our table.

To make the most out of the mangoes you bought,

1. Immediately wash them with tap water to wash out any residual pesticides and dust.

2. If the mango you bought has slight greenish portions, wrap them in newspaper or brownbag and put them inside a dry place. The mangoes will ripen naturally.

3. Select mangoes that are fragrant. The aroma indicates that he mangoes are sweet.

4. If in case the mangoes are about to become overripe, make a smoothie.

Enjoy your mangoes!
