Rainy Season 2013

It's almost the end of May. One can see signs that rainy season is upon us when winged termites and ants started converging on every light source there is, toads and frogs appear, and roaches teem. Add to that the june bug or salagubang, my favorite pet pasttime in my childhood days.
Stronger Typhoons
Scientists warned us that warmer oceans could trigger more powerful tropical storms.
Should we prepare for the inevitable? Yes, we should brace ourselves for catastrophes, but we must also help curb the effects of climate change by doing our share.
Steps to Take to Mitigate the Effects of Flooding
1. Follow DOST PAGASA Twitter (@dost_pagasa) and Facebook accounts for the latest official weather advisory
2. Keep a copy of your local barangay and police station telephone numbers.
3. Be aware of your surroundings, if you live near a river or creek, know where to safely evacuate.
4. Keep valuable documents in a waterproof envelope, stored in a high place. Be ready to take them with you during evacuation.
5. Follow local authorities' directions in case of emergency.

Be safe everyone
